Wetlands
Being located between Aras and Ghezel Ozan watersheds, in addition to having rivers and lakes, Ardebil Province is the house to many wetlands such as Jiran Goli, Mil Moghan, Yamchi, Gilarlou, Petekhor, Soha, Ganjgah, Noshar, Shourgol, Molla Ahmad, Tiragh Kandi, etc., which are some of the natural tourist attractions of this province.
The Jiran Goli Wetland
Jiran Goli wetland is located in Shirvan Darasi habitat in Ardabil Province, 20 km southeast of Meshginshahr and near Lahroud. The height of this wetland is 2200 meters above sea level. Large numbers of migratory waterfowl and shorebirds migrate to this wetland from Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Siberia in winters.
This wetland is the habitat of a number of birds like coot, grebe, gray heron, gadwall, and mallard as well as a number of animals such as pig, fox, wolf, rams, Armenian ewes, brown bears, partridges, and laughing dove. The wetland is surrounded by reeds, pasture plants, and herbaceous plants.
