On Monday, 27 July 2026 (5 Mordad 1405), a commemorative ceremony was held at Ehsaniya Islamic College in Sri Lanka in honour of the martyred leader of the Ummah, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

The ceremony was attended by a large gathering of the College's administrators, teachers, and students and commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur'an in memory of the late leader.

In his remarks, Ash Shaikh W. I. M. Jalaludeen, Principal of Ehsaniya Islamic College, expressed his sympathy and solidarity with the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He stated that the students and staff of the College hold the Islamic Republic of Iran in high esteem and have been deeply influenced by the thoughts and teachings of the late Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. He also noted that the founder of the College, Haj Moulavi Niyas Mohamed, visited the Islamic Republic of Iran on several occasions during his lifetime, reflecting the longstanding relationship between the institution and Iran.

During the ceremony, Mr Ali Kebriaei Zadeh, Cultural Counsellor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sri Lanka, delivered a speech highlighting the educational and intellectual legacy of the late leader. He referred to Ayatollah Khamenei's emphasis on Islamic education, moral values, self-confidence, devotion to the Holy Qur'an, the pursuit of knowledge, resistance against oppression, and the importance of unity and solidarity among Muslims.

The Cultural Counsellor also referred to what he described as attacks by the United States and Israel on civilian sites in Iran, including schools, hospitals, residential areas, and cultural heritage sites. He stated that the attack on a school in Minab, which, according to his remarks, resulted in the martyrdom of 168 innocent students, illustrated what he characterized as a contradiction between proclaimed American values and actions that, in his view, constitute arrogance and hostility toward humanity.

The ceremony concluded in a solemn and spiritual atmosphere and reflected the respect and affection expressed by the Ehsaniya Islamic community for the late leader, as well as its friendship with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
