Cultural Counsellor of the Islamic Republic of Iran Attends the Certificate Awarding Ceremony at the Bandaranaike Centre for International StudiesOn Wednesday, 8 July 2026, the Cultural Counsellor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sri Lanka attended the certificate awarding ceremony for graduates and language learners of the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS). The ceremony was attended by approximately 500 graduates, faculty members, academic administrators, ambassadors, cultural counsellors, and diplomatic representatives from various countries.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Priyanthi Fernando, President of the Bandaranaike Centre, emphasized that language education goes beyond a means of communication and serves as a foundation for the advancement of cultural diplomacy, the strengthening of social capital among nations, and the promotion of academic, educational, and cultural cooperation. She also presented a report on the Centre's educational development, expanding international partnerships, and future programmes.

Following her address, the certificate presentation ceremony commenced. Mr. Ali Kebriaei Zadeh, Cultural Counsellor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, together with political and cultural representatives of other countries, presented certificates to the graduates.During the ceremony, a video introducing the rich cultural and civilizational heritage of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as the cultural cooperation between the Bandaranaike Centre and the Cultural Counsellorship of the Islamic Republic of Iran, was screened and received with great interest from the audience. The presentation further highlighted Iran's cultural and civilizational heritage among Sri Lankan university students and language learners and reinforced the country's position as an active cultural partner of the Centre.NoteThe active participation of the Cultural Counsellorship of the Islamic Republic of Iran in such events not only strengthens its cooperation with Sri Lanka's academic and educational institutions—particularly the Bandaranaike Centre, the country's leading institution for language education and international studies—but also provides valuable opportunities for expanding collaboration in language education, academic exchanges, joint cultural programmes, and public diplomacy. Furthermore, it enhances existing capacities for introducing Iran's rich culture and civilization to Sri Lanka's younger generation and academic community.
