The Cultural Counsellor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Zimbabwe Mr Hamid Bakhtiyar has begun engaging members of the local media in a bid to establish a new working relationship that will see the media giving maximum coverage of Iranian issues in Zimbabwe.
In an inaugural meeting that was held today, Friday the 19th May 2023 at the Cultural Centre Offices in which Nine journalists participated, Mr Bakhtiyar said the Cultural Centre of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran wants to establish a close working relationship with all media orgnisations in Zimbabwe through availing as much information as possible to the media.
The meeting was also meant to explore new areas in which the Cultural Centre could work closely with the media in the country.
He encouraged the media in Zimbabwe to report positively and factually on Iranian issues.
Mr Bakhtiyar said the Cultural Centre of the Embassy of Iran would support the media to fully cover the Iranian issues through the necessary available means.
Journalists who spoke during the meeting noted that they would need to be consientised on most Iranian issues through interactive seminars and workshops.
The journalists were also disturbed by the negative media reports on Iran by some Western media organisations, reports which the media people in Zimbabwe said was the duty of the embassy of Iran in Zimbabwe to correct and resent a correct perspective on.
