The Cultural Centre of the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Zimbabwe and the Cinema Society of Zimbabwe have both committed themselves to strengthening cultural cooperation between Iran and Zimbabwe through the cooperating and engaging in cross cultural exchange programs that will further strengthen both countries’ commitment to fostering cultural collaborations and deepening the cultural ties between the two countries.

Both parties said they looked forward to further strengthening the cultural bond between the two countries and creating meaningful connections through various collaborations in all agreed initiatives.

In a meeting held at the Cultural Centre of the Embassy of Iran this Tuesday (20 November 2023) between the Cultural Counsellor, Mr Hamid Bakhtiyar and Mr Richard Tentone, the Secretary General of Cinema Society of Zimbabwe, both parties discussed and identified various initiatives that will serve as platforms for cultural exchange programmes as well as other initiatives that will foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Zimbabwean and Iranian arts and cinema.

Since the Cultural Centre of Iran has already initiated plans to host a film week in Zimbabwe in the near future, The Cinema Society of Zimbabwe says it will use its expertise to identify suitable venues for the Persian film Festival.

The Cinema Society of Zimbabwe is also in the process of mobilising film makers who are poised to participate in the Fajr International Film Festival due to take place in Iran early next year. The Cinema Society of Zimbabwe is eager to participate in the esteemed International Film Festival that will showcase outstanding films from Zimbabwe. They are currently in the process of identifying talented filmmakers whose works align with the festival's vision and values.
