On 14 April 2024, the Islamic Republic of Iran's armed forces have carried out a series of military strikes on Israeli's military bases in response to, and in exercise of its inherent right of self-defence as recognized under Article 51 of the Charter, against Israel's recurring military aggressions, resulting in the martyrdom of the Iranian military advisors present in Syria at the invitation of the Syrian government, in particular the 1 April armed attack against diplomatic premises of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus.
In a meeting held on Sunday, Iran’s Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts announced its programs to celebrate the upcoming World Heritage Day. Along with various meetings and workshops, entry to historical sites and monuments will be free of charge on April 18, said Fatemeh Davari, who presides over the department for preservation and restoration of historical buildings at the tourism ministry.
Today, the last Friday of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, also known as International Quds Day, is observed by the Islamic Republic of Iran and is dedicated to the Palestinian people suffering at the hands of Israeli bombardments, starvation and genocide. This day also has to be understood from an African perspective. Nelson Mandela once remarked: “But we know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians.”
Imam Khamenei made the remarks in the Imam Khomeini Hussainiyah on April 3, 2024. During the meeting, he described the crimes of the Zionist regime such as genocide and mass killings and attacks against women and children, patients and hospitals as unprecedented in contemporary history. He asserted that the magnitude of the crimes is so immense that even individuals raised in Western culture, Europe and the US have cried out in protest.
