15th Farabi International Award - Call for Nominations.

The Farabi International Award (FIA) on Humanities and Islamic Studies is held annually by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI), in cooperation with Iran’s National Elite Foundation, and the Research Institute for Cultural, Social and Civilizational Studies of IRI.

Call for Nominations: 15th Farabi International Award

Registration process is open until 21 December 2023

The Farabi International Award (FIA) on Humanities and Islamic Studies is held annually by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI), in cooperation with Iran’s National Elite Foundation, and the Research Institute for Cultural, Social and Civilizational Studies of IRI.

The FIA's international section is dedicated to recognizing exceptional individuals, works, theories, research projects, and innovative approaches across three areas of study: "Iranian Studies," "Islamic Studies," and "Science and Religion Studies." It seeks to promote and showcase these outstanding achievements to the global community. 

The 15th edition of the FIA Award will recognize eligible researchers in two

categories:

"Distinguished Researcher" and "Distinguished Research".

All professors, researchers, and owners of scientific works who are not of Iranian nationality

are invited to participate in the international segment of the 15th Farabi Award.

Key features of a " Distinguished Researcher":

1. Having outstanding scientific works and reference works;

2. Being innovative, or having effective theories;

3. Having an effective background in the development of higher education;

4. Having an effective background in the field of training a new generation of specialists;

5. Having scientific and practical influence in international forums.

 

 

Key features of " Distinguished Research":

1. Having a clear problem-solving and theoretical framework;

2. Having scientific method and being interdisciplinarity;

3. Having a critical approach to different views and schools in the subject area of the research;

4. Having appropriate innovation;

5. Having a paradigm, effective theory, or coherent system (in basic research) or a practical

and executive solution to the existing problems (in applied research);

6. The publication timeline should span from March 2020 until the end of March 2023.

 

Also, the research endeavors that qualify for the "Peace and Friendship Award" must

adhere to the following criteria:

1. Trying to achieve world peace through justice;

2. Encouraging human virtues through dialogue between cultures;

3. Fostering Interfaith dialogue and understanding 

4. Rapproachment of Islamic religions and creeds (Taghrib Ul-Mazahib).

 

Notes regarding the registration process:

1. Starting from  9 October 2023 until 21 December 2023, researchers who wish to participate can register and submit the required documents via the Farabi Award website, which can be accessed through www.farabiaward.ir.

2. Registration is open to both individuals and organizations, including professors, researchers, owners of scientific works, and publishers.

The 15th Farabi International Award's closing ceremony is scheduled for July 2024 in Tehran, where the winners will be announced. The FIA secretariat will facilitate the award distribution to the recipients.
