According to the public relations of the Fajr International Film Festival, a total of 621 films from 87 countries applied to participate in the international section of the 42nd edition, including Cinema Salvation (international competition) and Eastern Vista (competition of Asian-Islamic countries films).
In addition to Iran, countries such as the United States, Myanmar, Malaysia, France, India, Turkey, Italy, Yemen, Brazil, Russia, Moldova, Lithuania, Argentina, Spain, Germany, Mexico, Albania, China, Britain, Ireland, North Korea, Iraq, South Korea, Bulgaria, Romania, Luxembourg, Croatia, the Netherlands, Sweden, Indonesia, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada, Greece, Australia, Congo, South Africa, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, Costa Rica, Slovenia, Australia, Latvia, Chile, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Norway, Lebanon, Japan, Hong Kong, Mongolia, Morocco, the Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, Taiwan, Czech Republic, Bangladesh, Senegal, Mali, Slovakia, Iceland, Malta, Zimbabwe, Estonia, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Colombia, Finland, Macedonia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Hungary, Montenegro, Panama, Burkina Faso, Kazakhstan, Bolivia, Armenia, Tunisia, Namibia, Cyprus, Egypt, Venezuela, Palestine, and Syria have registered their works for participation in the international section of this edition.
