On 23 June 2026 (3 Tir 1405), Honorable Saeed Reza Mosaib-Motlaq, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai, along with Mr. Mohammad Reza Fazel, Director of the Cultural House of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the city, visited the residence of Akbar Khan, the veteran artist, renowned filmmaker, and one of the distinguished figures of Indian cinema, and held a meeting and discussion with him.

At the beginning of this cordial meeting, the Iranian delegation sincerely appreciated and expressed gratitude for the valuable efforts and dedication of this pioneering artist in promoting religious values and organizing a grand mourning ceremony in remembrance of Imam Hussain’s (AS) martyrdom and in tribute to Hazrat Abbas ibn Ali (AS). In this regard, the necessary coordination and planning were also carried out for the official invitation of Iranian cultural officials and representatives to participate in this spiritual gathering.

During the meeting, which was also attended by Seyed Mohammad Miraei, expert and translator of the Consulate General, discussions were held on the fundamental and shared concept of “humanity” in different cultures and religions, as well as the necessity of strengthening cooperation and solidarity among nations in the contemporary world.

Both sides discussed the important responsibility and special role of artists, intellectuals, and cultural figures in exposing injustice and supporting the oppressed and vulnerable communities worldwide. They also emphasized the vital and undeniable role of mass media and the film industry in promoting awareness, cultural dialogue, and confronting oppression.

This valuable and forward-looking meeting, in addition to strengthening shared spiritual and cultural interests, laid a solid foundation for enhancing mutual cultural understanding and for planning future collaborations in the fields of art, cinema, and media between the Cultural House of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the engaged cinematic community of India.
