The remarkable performance of Iran's student team at the 18th Edition International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA 2025) has once again brought great honor to the country. This competition, held from August 12 to 21, 2025 (21 to 30 Mordad 1404) in Mumbai, was the largest in the history of the IOAA, showcasing a magnificent display of science, collaboration, and international solidarity with the participation of 288 students from 64 countries.
Samadiyeh College in Bhiwandi Mumbai recently published conference papers from a two-day international conference on Iran India relations in the Ajanta Journal's fourteenth issue. Supported by the Cultural House of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai, the publication includes 33 papers, reflecting high quality and quantity, and received approval from the University Grants Commission UGC. The journal, with ISSN 2277-5730, features articles in English, Urdu, and Hindi, covering the months of April and June 2025
IIT Bombay hosted a meeting with representatives from the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai. The session aimed to expand academic and cultural partnerships and emphasized the mutual commitment of both countries to collaborate in education, research, and cultural exchange. In this meeting, Hassan Mohseni-Fard, Consul General of Iran Mumbai, Mohammad Reza Fazel, Director Iran Cultural House in Mumbai, and Hamid Sharifi, a public diplomacy expert, from (IIT) Professor Shirish K. Dhere, President of IIT Bombay, and Professor Milind Atrey, Vice President for Research, explored ways to enhance scientific and academic interactions.

The symposium was presided over by Professor Rafia Shabnam Abidi, a distinguished poet and writer in the realm of Urdu literature. During the event, Mr. Hassani Mohseni Fard, the Acting Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran, along with other dignitaries, launched Professor Abidi's book 'Shakh Nabat', which features poetic translations of Saadi Shirazi's works. In her presidential address, Professor Abidi emphasized the significant impact of Persian on the development of Urdu, illustrating her points with various examples. She remarked that the removal of most Persian words from Urdu would strip the language of its elegance, delicacy, and sweetness. She likened Urdu to a beautiful scarf, suggesting that Persian has adorned it with stars and jewels. Her insightful discussion on Saadi Shirazi's poetry, as well as his artistic and personal qualities, resonated deeply with the engaged audience.
Following previous correspondence and meetings regarding cultural and scientific collaboration, a ceremony was held to celebrate Eid al-Fitr and to sign a bilateral memorandum of understanding between the Cultural House of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai and the GM Momin Women's in Bhiwandi, attended by faculty and students.
