Iran Culture House, New Delhi, in collaboration with the Indian Calligraphers Association, Central Library and the Department of Islamic Studies, Hamdard University, Delhi, organized an exhibition and workshop on calligraphy, illumination and photography with a focus on Iranian anthropology on November 14, 2024. The event, was enthusiastically welcomed by the students and faculty of the Hamdard university, Delhi.

Dr. Akhtar Parvez, Chief Librarian of Hamdard University, warmly welcomed Dr. Faridalin FaridAsr, Cultural Counselor of Islamic Ira, New Delhi, and guests from the Islamic Republic along with the faculty, staff and students of the university. Dr. Seyed Mohammad Fazlur Rahman from Hamdard University spoke on the art of calligraphy in the digital age, followed by Dr. Mohammad Ahmad Naeimi, a faculty member of the Department of Islamic Studies, who commented on the basics of Islamic calligraphy.

Dr. Fariduddin Farid-Asr, Cultural Counselor of Islamic Republic of Iran, the chief guest of the event, spoke about the strong and ongoing partnership between the Iranian Cultural House and the Hamdard community. He introduced two renowned calligraphers, Dr. Vahide Vosoughzadeh and Ms. Mahboobeh Hassanipanah, as well as photographer Ms. Farzaneh Biazaran, who had traveled from Iran to participate in this cultural exchange.

While the artists captivated the students with their lively calligraphy displays and creations that highlighted the elegance and precision of the art form. In addition to the calligraphy showcase, Ms. Farzaneh Biazaran’s photography exhibition was a highlight, with students admiring the beauty and depth of her Iranian ethnographic photographs.

The event was presented as a platform to explore future collaborations between Hamdard University and the Iranian Culture House, with the aim of fostering cultural and educational exchanges that would benefit the university’s students and further promote appreciation for Islamic arts.
