A Nowruz Festival was organized with the joint initiatives of the Culture House of I. R. Iran, New Delhi and the Center for Persian Language & Middle Eastern Studies of Jawaharlal Nehru University in its conference hall. It was attended by the Ambassadors and Diplomats of Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as professors and students of Persian language and other Centres. Ten speakers explained the traditions of Nowruz and the philosophy of Nowruz celebration among Iranians and other regions. In this event, Dr. Mohd Ali Rabbani, the Cultural Counselor of Iran in India, highlighted two main characteristics of Nowruz: permanence, and its continuity till to the young generation; The tradition of Nowruz is considered to be the middle link between the national and religious identity of Iran before and after Islam. The ritual which is three thousand years old has been able to protect itself against historical, and political changes & developments and is a common and stable pillar of Iranian identity regardless of ethnicity, religion, politics and geography.
