Khuzestan province to host multimedia festival of cultural heritage
Iran will hold the fourth International Multimedia Festival of Cultural Heritage in Khuzestan province in January 2026, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts said on Monday.

The event’s slogan is “Our Iran, Our [Cultural] Heritage; Our [Cultural Heritage, Our Iran.” Categories include television, radio, film and cinema, open-air and field performances, youth heritage guardians, poetry and music, publications, photography, digital heritage, and international entries.
According to organizers, each category will feature a main prize along with two additional awards. A special international award for intangible heritage will also be presented to a selected work.
They added that pre-festival activities will take place in Khuzestan to encourage community engagement. These will include training workshops, local exhibitions, expert meetings and cultural tours in cities and villages across the province.
The festival, launched in 2022 in Yazd, was held in Qazvin in 2023 and in Shiraz in 2024. It was created to promote heritage awareness, identify young talent, and encourage competition in multimedia productions related to cultural heritage.
Situated at the head of the Persian Gulf and bordering Iraq on the west, Khuzestan was settled about 6000 BC by a people with affinities to the Sumerians, who came from the Zagros Mountains region. The region then came to constitute the heart of the Elamite kingdom, with Susa as its capital.
