In a meeting with the Deputy of International Affairs of IRIB, the South African Ambassador in Tehran called for expanded cultural cooperation between South Africa and Iran.
According to the Public Relations Office of IRIB, in this meeting, Ahmad Nouroozi welcomed Sehloho Francis Moloi, the South African Ambassador in Tehran, and recalled South Africa's struggles on the international stage. He added, "Your presence here today and this meeting with you is very encouraging; we feel solidarity with the struggles South Africa has endured, especially after Nelson Mandela, the late leader of South Africa's fight for freedom."
The Deputy of International Affairs of IRIB, referring to the two countries' shared approaches to fighting oppression, emphasized, "These days, South Africa shines like a star in supporting the people of Palestine and has been able to play an effective role in this area."
Ahmad Nouroozi continued, "The world should be ashamed of the events happening these days in Gaza and also of what is taking place in southern Lebanon, as it remains silent in the face of these criminal acts."
The South African Ambassador Francis Moloi also mentioned the good relations between Iran and South Africa over the years, saying, "The roots of relations between the two countries go back many years and were formed out of the struggle for justice and freedom. Therefore, as the country of South Africa, we will always be grateful for the prominent role that Iran and the Iranian people have played in our struggle for freedom."
The South African Ambassador added, "We need to deepen our relations in various fields such as economy, culture, science, and all areas of mutual interest, both bilaterally and at the international and multilateral levels."
He referred to South Africa's complaint against the Zionist regime at the International Court of Justice, stating, "Whether or not Israel complies with temporary measures, our efforts in this area will never stop. We strongly believe that justice will prevail."
The South African Ambassador, noting the meeting between the Presidents of South Africa and Iran in Russia, added, "I am aware that the presidents of the two countries discussed issues such as the genocide in Gaza, which reflects the closeness of views between the two countries."
Francis Moloi continued, "The crimes in Gaza and Lebanon are among the most important issues of our time, and as like-minded countries, we must address this matter through global governance institutions and amplify it to stop this genocide and bring those responsible to justice."
In conclusion, Francis Moloi stated, "As the South African Embassy, we are pursuing the idea of organizing an exhibition in this regard to highlight the genocide in Gaza."
