The South African government has set its sights on a new frontier in tourism: astro-tourism. In a speech at the Tourism Month media launch, Minister of Tourism Patricia de Lille announced plans to develop a comprehensive astro-tourism strategy, positioning South Africa as a world-class astro-tourism destination.
As the tourism world continues to expand, sustainable tourism is no longer optional but a necessity. Tourists are urged to assess their travels' ecological impact on the various countries they visit. Similarly, countries have to ensure that their policies and legal frameworks are robust enough to withstand the booming tourism industry.
The minister was speaking at the launch of the 2024 eduCate: Matric Maths and Science Revision programme in Johannesburg on 15 August. For the past 14 years, the annual revision intervention has assisted Grade 12 learners across the country to prepare for their Maths and Physical Science examinations.
