Babol Grand Mosque
Babol Mosque is located in Babol city of Mazandaran province, whose original construction dates back to 160 AH.
The current building of the mosque is a remnant of the Qajar period and the repairs and restorations that have been done later. The mosque has two entrances at the east and west, which lead to two porch-like spaces. Above the western entrance, verses and phrases are written on the tiles. The courtyard of the mosque is located east and west and around it, there are porches and naves that have entrances facing the courtyard. The main nave of the mosque is located on the south side and is covered with arches, rafters, piers and pillars with the help of large and small domes.
In the middle of the nave facing the courtyard is a porch whose opening is now blocked by a metal window. In the west of the nave, there is an old altar and in its southern side, there are two new tiled altars. On the text and around the altar, inscriptions have been tiled and plastered, and poems have been written on the three-sided wall of the porch arch.
