Shevi Waterfall

Located in the Zagros mountain range and the Shevi village of Dezful County of the Khuzestan Province, this waterfall the height of which is about 100 meters is the largest natural waterfall of the Middle East and one of the most beautiful waterfalls of Iran. Coming out of a cave, the Shevi Waterfall flows down from a high gorge and after going through mountains and valleys the water eventually pours into the Dez River and its dam in the Khuzestan Province.

This waterfall has been named after the name of village it is located in. However, due to the proximity of Shevi waterfall to the Tele Zang railway station, it is also known as Tele Zang waterfall in some places. In the local language, the term Shevi means tenderness.

This waterfall is surrounded by a lush and beautiful nature in springs and the best time to visit it is in the beginning of spring and especially in the month of Farvardin (21 March to 20 April), when the spring weather adds to the freshness and the beauty of greenery of this region. There is another large waterfall near the Shevi waterfall, which is sometimes referred to as the Second Shevi Waterfall or Sang-e Mar (lit. Snake’s Stone) Waterfall.
