Eid Ghadeer Events In Ghana
REPORT ON GHADEER PROGRAMS
On the occasion of Eid Ghadeer, the cultural consulate of the embassy of the Islamic republic of Iran in Ghana organized and finance radio programs as well as congregational programs across the country to mark the event. The following is a report of the programs held.
Four radio programs were held in four different towns in four different regions of the country while two congregational programs were held in two towns in two different regions of the country. The reach of these programs was far and wide. The programs are as follows

Summary of lecture
He began by narrating the events that lead to the declaration of Imam Ali as the imam at Ghadeer, starting from the last hajj of the prophet onwards towards his return to Madina. He then mentioned that god revealed to the prophet to declare Imam Ali as his successor and Imam after him through the verse which says: “O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. And Allah will protect you from the people. Indeed, Allah does not guide the disbelieving people.”
He mentioned that the prophet then gathered his companions at the pond of khum and gave a very lengthy lecture, after which he mentioned that he leaves behind two weighty things for the Muslims after him, one is the book of god and the other is his progeny-his household-. Thereafter he called imam Ali and raised his hand and proclaimed him the imam after him. He also narrated that one person who accused the prophet of nepotism was then struck by god as a sign of imam Ali’s appointment been a divine case.
Amongst other things, he mentioned that one of the most important significance of this event is that, it lays down a well-defined path of succession in Islam as well as establishes a perpetual divine guidance for mankind. He wished the Muslim ummah a happy eid ghadeer and called on all Muslims to study the event of ghadeer for themselves through the internet to discover the truth of it for themselves as well.

Summary of lecture
First, he mentioned that only god chooses his prophets, and as such only god can choose their successors. He spoke on what qualifies a person to be elected by god as the successor of a prophet, and amongst them he mentioned that
1, knowledge, 2, piety and 3, bravery. And then clarified that, only imam Ali had all of these qualities to satisfactory levels
Next, he spoke about the virtues of imam Ali, mentioned that he was the first male Muslim, first to pray, and the first go out for jihad.
He spoke at length about the sermon of the prophet at ghadeer, the command of god for Ali to be appointed as the caliph and finally, he spoke about the perfection of religion through the event of ghadeer.

Summary of his lectures
First he acknowledged and thanked the Iranian cultural consulate for organizing and financing this program.
He went on to begin by narrating the event of imam Ali, at the time when Imam Ali slept on the bed of the prophet at the risk of his life in order to protect Islam. He then said, “this is the highest sacrifice possible, for which god took pride in Ali over the angels”
Then, he linked this particular incident to the event at Ghadeer Khum, saying, it was with Ali that the baby Islam was saved, and it was with him that the adault-islam was to be protected.
He recited the following verses; “O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. And Allah will protect you from the people. Indeed, Allah does not guide the disbelieving people” he went on to narrate the hadith of ghadeer and said “the prophet said, am I not your guide and leader? They responded, surely, you were. He then said, to whomever I am a guide and leader, this Ali here is also his guide and leader”
He spoke about the events of Sakifatu bani sa’ad and also about how allegiances were paid to other than Imam Ali as well as how some companions remained with the imam after the passing of the prophet.
After that, he narrated that, the imam was infallible due to the verse of purification that was revealed in honor of the household of the prophet.
He mentioned several references for the hadith of ghadeer and called upon people to tract his statements through the internet or through other means. He thanked god and brought his sermon to an end.

Summary of lectures
He began his program by referring to the following verses of the Quran “And when your Lord said to the angels, "Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority." They said, "Will You place upon it one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and sanctify You?" Allah said, "Indeed, I know that which you do not know.", and Then did posited that, this verse clearly indicates that only god is responsible for the election of a successor to the prophets as the prophets are viceroys for god on earth.
He went on to give a very detailed lecture on the virtues of Imam Ali and why he was the perfect successor for the prophet. He mentioned that, even without a verse of the Quran, logic dictates that the best of the people should be the best to lead.
He went on the recite the verse of ghadeer and the hadith of ghadeer, and declared that on this day, God perfected his religion and fulfilled his favor for mankind. Therefore, the greatest of all forms of favors for any human being is the favor of haven believed in the Imam as the rightful imam of the mankind after the prophet.
CONGREGATIONAL PROGRAMS
The following are briefings on the congregational programs held.
The first program was held in Bole, in the savannah region of Ghana on the 17th of July 2022
The program was attended by about 200 people and included a large segment of women. The program was partly financed and organized by the cultural consulate of the embassy of the Islamic republic of Iran in partnership with Shia community of bole under the leadership of Sheikh Hussein Seidu.
Many scholars from different Islamic sects were invited amongst them the Imam of the Tijaniya Sufi order, as were local chiefs and youth leaders. The program commenced at 10:00 am and ended at 1:00pm.
The second [program was held in Bolgatanga on the 17th of July 2022
The program was attended by about 30 to 40 people, sheikh Salam Wali lead the organization of the program to a success.
In attendance was the Shia Imam as well as the deputy Shia Imam of Bolgatanga. The program began at 10:00 am and ended at 12:00pm.
