Courtesy visit at National Library of Uganda

In a joint meeting with a number of officials of this library, Iranian cultural counsellor, while appreciating and thanking them for their warm hospitality, explained some of the cultural activities carried out by the Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of the Republic of Iran in Uganda, as well as some of the programs currently being implemented.
He also introduced the National Archives and Library Organization of the Republic of Iran and pointed out some of the activities of this organization in the field of written and non-written works published within the country, including books, magazines, etc., as well as works published abroad in the field of Iranian and Islamic studies in non-Persian languages, especially English and Arabic.
He called such activities an important step towards increasing public awareness and improving the cultural level of society.
Referring to the sending of more than 70 Ugandan scholarship students to the Republic of Iran in the past two years to study at undergraduate and graduate levels in various scientific and academic fields, the Iranian Cultural Counselor called it an effective step towards increasing the level of scientific and cultural interactions between the two countries and emphasized his efforts to continue the process of sending scholarship students to the Republic of Iran.
He called providing the necessary platforms to promote the culture of reading in Ugandan society, especially for adolescents and young people, a vital matter that will play a significant role in the future of this country and increase the level of general culture.
Referring to the genocide committed by the unbridled Zionist regime and the martyrdom of more than 65,000 oppressed and defenseless people of Gaza over the past two years, our country's cultural advisor condemned the destruction of universities, schools, public libraries, cultural centers, and the destruction of millions of books, and called for this barbaric regime to be held accountable by the responsible human rights and cultural institutions in the United Nations.
In the end, he emphasized any joint cooperation between the National Archives and Library Organization of the Republic of Iran and the National Library of Uganda, and also presented a volume of the book "Servant of the Nation" (about the life and services of Martyr Dr. Raisi) to Mr. Adonia Katungisa, the Assistant Commissioner
