The 3rd Imam Hussein Conference role model of peaceful co-existence and justice at Kyengera, Wakiso District

 

 

The 3 days conference attracted 130 participants, was opened by Quran recitation from sheikh Balaba Abdallah and it was officiated by Hon. Asuman Basalirwa, the leader of Muslim Members of Parliament in the government of Uganda.

Among the participants are shuyuks, students and thinkers from different institutions,and organizations such as Imam Hussein foundation, Warith Ambiyya, among others.

Sheikh Yusuf Munir Makanga, the academic Registrar of Al-Mustafa Islamic College welcomed invited guests and participants to the 3rd edition of Imam Hussein Conference and asked them to feel at home as the College belongs to them. 

Sheikh Yusuf Mulumba, the Director of Quran and Itra Association and chairperson organizing Committee of the conference thanked almighty Allah for enabling them to have this conference at the college with presence of Muballighs, students and scholars.

Sheikh Kinyiri Waiswa, a Sunni religious scholar from Azhar University in Egypt was extremely grateful to be part of the Imam Hussein Conference and prayed that almighty Allah to bless the gathering with good intention of highlighting the personality of the grandson of prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

He noted that most of the Imams from Ahlulbayt had exemplary characters of peaceful coexistence throughout their lives. He expressed that Muslims have a strong brotherhood among them and also living with others socially, morally upright to show the pure image of Islam and humanity.

He rallied participants that Islam focuses on spiritual purity and growth which all the households of prophet Muhammad (PBUH) preached and showed to their followers.

He quoted hadith Thaqalyn: I have left you with two weighty gifts; the book of almighty Allah and Households of prophet which are the chains of salvation.

He implored the participants to live the way they lived as role models to bring sanity in the society.

Sheikh Ali Zikusooka, a Sunni religious personality notably spoke about the relevance and importance of expressing the legacies, characters and interests of Imam Hussein (a.s) in reviving Islam from tyranny rulers who wanted to destroy Islam through spreading ignorance, injustices, violence, violation of human rights among others in the society.

He noted that the holy Quran teaches us to differentiate between what's right and wrong with universal invitation to salvation and guidance.

He warned that the umayyads hypocrisy created propaganda among the followers to the extent of dividing each other thereby keeping them away from the truth as it was seen on Imam Hussein while reviving Islam.

 

Mr. Abdollah Abbasi the Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran referred to the life of Imam Hussain and showed different dimensions of his life that provide a type of lifestyle for humans that can be practical in all times and places and always be presented as a suitable model. Imam Hussain is regarded as a perfect example and an all-round model for individual and social life and moral, religious and political methods such as faith and belief in God, dignity and freedom, courage, patience and endurance, superior life, superior choice, fulfilling duty and acting on duty among others.

 

H.E. Mr. Majid Saffar, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran noted that Imam Hussein stood for social justice and transformation regardless of the persecution from tyranny leadership.

He stood for the oppressed people throughout his life and died on duty of resistance to oppression.

His sacrifice and moral courage told us many lessons that transcends our lives today. He taught us to always stand for the values of humility and justice.

Hon. Asuman Basalirwa, Bugiri Municipality member of Parliament and leader of muslim Members of Parliament commended the management for extending invitation and cautioned Muballighs to take on their respective responsibilities and learn new skills acquisition to fit in the current environment while embracing the digital technology to propagate Islam.

He informed participants that Imam Hussein had alot to learn from and therefore it is important to learn how to live with others in the peacefully.
