Women Entrepreneurship Workshop in Uganda
The Iran Cultural Counselor opened the Women entrepreneurship workshop at Direct Hand Foundation Wakiso District
Madam Nakabugo Catherine, the Executive director of the organization which was registered in 2019 appreciated the Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran for supporting the skilling program at Kaliti, Wakiso District.
She said that their organization is Registered to envision a generation where all girls and young women are empowered with relevant skills and living in communities with improved livelihoods.
According to the Executive director, she said that they offer courses in Hairdressing, tailoring, baking, computer training considering teenage mothers and female youth in Wakiso and Buyende districts in Uganda.
She said that they enrolled 200 women who are being skilled in tailoring, baking, shoemaking among other skills with five teachers and tutors.
Mr. Abdollah Abbasi, the CulturalCounsellor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran: Appreciated the role of Direct HAND Foundation for skilling women in Wakiso District and emphasized the need for empowering the women in society as prophet Muhammad (PBUH) highlighted the position of the girl child education and safety.
He informed participants about the ongoing injustices in Gaza where The Zionist regime is killing thousands of women and children while the international community is watching in daylight without strong condemnation.
He called upon free thinkers and humanity activists to condemn such barbaric actions of Israel administration where lives are lost including women and children.
He stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran, which was founded in 1979 by the charismatic leadership of Imam Khomeini has always stood with the hopeless and the oppressed people around the world including Palestine and Africa.
On the second day of the workshop:
The vision of that NGO is envisions a generation where all girls and women's are empowered with relevant skills and living in communities with improved livelihood of women in that area and neighboring areas for skills enrichment of the community.
Workshop for two days, from morning up to evening every day started on 23/11/2023 up to 24/11/2023
The workshop had the following activities of skilling, tailoring, baking, shoe making, crocheting, with total attendance of 180 women and girls
The Area local chairman thanked the government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran for bringing this Free workshop to give free skills to the poor women in his village and nearby community.
Speech from madam Catherine Nakabugo one of the directors of this center requested to have a week workshop again and thanked the Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran for supporting the workshop financially.
The Chief Executive Officer, Mr. kiwalabye Male promised to keep this relationship between his center and Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran for further cooperation in areas that help the community.
The cultural Counsellor of the embassy of Islamic republic of Iran, Mr. Abdollah Abassi was represented by sheik yusuf zubayiri serunjogi who closed the workshop and thanked all attendees and requested the women to always seek to improve employable skills to enable them live in good condition because no religion wants beggars and most developed countries have empowered women with small scale industries.
