Commemoration of Arbaeen of Imam Hussain (AS) in Manila
The Cultural Section of the Islamic Republic, in solidarity with the lovers of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) around the world, especially our beloved country Iran, commemorated the memory of the martyrs of Karbala and the calamities that befell Imam Hussein (a.s.) and his faithful and loyal companions.

For this purpose, a ceremony was held on the evening of Wednesday, the fifteenth of Shahrivar 1402, equal to the sixth of September, 2023, at 7:20 p.m., with the presence of the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Manila, together with the embassy staff, resident Iranians, Iranian students studying in this country, and Shiites from The countries of the Philippines, Pakistan and Iraq held in Cultural Center’s hall. The ceremony started with the broadcast of the virtual exhibition of the procession of the huge masses of people in Arbaeen, and then Mr. Abolghasemi, the Cultural Counselor of the Islamic Republic, while welcoming and thanking the mourners for their presence, expressed his condolences on the days of Arbaeen Hosseini and remembered the sacrifices of the martyrs of Karbala. Then ustad Aramponi, bright-hearted Quran reciter and memorizer, read verses from the Holy Quran. Due to the reception of the virtual exhibition of selected images of Arbaeen World Photo Festival, this video was broadcasted again.
Following that, Hojat al-Islam Seyyed Amir Asandi, a Filipino clergyman who graduated from Qom Seminary, was invited to give his speech. Mr. Asandi, who presented his speech in both English and Filipino languages, while praising God and showing respect to the presence of the Messenger of God (pbuh) He also emphasized the importance of the event of Karbala and presented narrations from the Islamic sacred tradition regarding Imam Hussein (a.s.) and the calamities that befell them.
In his speech, he mentioned some of Yazid's crimes against the son of Hazrat Fatima Zahra (a.s.) and elaborated to the audience parts of the martyrs' journey from Mecca to Kufa. Hojjat-ul-Islam Seyyed Amir Asandi based on the words of Imam Hussain (a.s.) considered his mission in the direction of establishing the command of good and forbidding what is evil, and he considered Imam’s move is reviving the religion of his grandfather, the Messenger of God (pbuh).
After Mr. Seyyed Amir Asandi's speech, a poem titled "Arba'in Mourning" was presented by one of the resident Iranian brothers, and then selected videos of the calamities befalling the Prophet's family (pbuh) were played, which was accompanied by mourning and chest beating by the mourners.
The ceremony ended at 10:30 and the mourners were served to the blessed table of Imam Hussain (a.s.).
