A Delegation of Indian Cultural and Literary Figures Visits the Cultural House and Consulate General of Iran in Mumbai

A delegation of cultural and literary activists from India, led by Mirza Anwar Baig Rai Bareilvi, Director of the Department of Islamic Literature of India affiliated with Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (Mumbai Region), visited the Cultural House of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Consulate General of Iran in Mumbai on Wednesday, 23 June 2026 (3 Tir 1405).

A delegation of cultural and literary activists from India, led by Mirza Anwar Baig Rai Bareilvi, Director of the Department of Islamic Literature of India affiliated with Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (Mumbai Region), visited the Cultural House of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Consulate General of Iran in Mumbai on Wednesday, 23 June 2026 (3 Tir 1405).

The delegation included prominent personalities such as Dr. Kaleem Zia (poet, researcher, critic, interpreter, translator, short-story writer, and Director of the Western Mumbai Regional Department of Islamic Literature), Hasnain Sahil (Head of the Persian Section), Professor Mazhar Alam Siddiqui (former Head of the Persian Department at Vasantrao Naik Institute of Arts and Social Sciences, Nagpur), and Mirza Arqam Baig.

Meeting at the Cultural House of Iran

The visit began at the Cultural House of the Islamic Republic of Iran, where the delegation attended a meeting hosted by Mohammad Reza Fazel, Director of the Cultural House. Following discussions, the guests participated in a luncheon hosted by the Cultural House.

During the program, Mirza Anwar Baig Rai Bareilvi presented a congratulatory letter and gifted his latest published work titled “Khal‘at Hin Gul Yahne” to the Director of the Cultural House as a token of appreciation.

Meeting and Discussions at the Consulate General of Iran

Later, the Indian cultural delegation, accompanied by the Director of the Cultural House, visited the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai, where they were welcomed by Honorable Saeed Reza Mosaib-Motlaq, Consul General of Iran.

During the meeting, the Consul General highlighted the deep-rooted historical and cultural relations between Iran and India and expressed appreciation for the affection and cultural interest of the Indian people towards Iran.

At the beginning of the official session, Professor Mazhar Alam Siddiqui introduced the members of the delegation. Afterwards, Mirza Anwar Baig Rai Bareilvi recited a poem in tribute to the late leader of the Islamic Revolution, expressing his respect and admiration. He also presented another poem expressing condolences over the tragic martyrdom of around 180 schoolgirls in Minab, and later recited a third poem praising the leadership and resilience of Iran and appreciating the perseverance and steadfastness of the Iranian people. These poetic presentations were appreciated by the Consul General.

In another part of the meeting, at the request of the Consul General, Dr. Kaleem Zia recited his poems. Hasnain Sahil also presented his poetic works, expressing the delegation’s views and sentiments against domination and aggression.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Kaleem Zia conveyed his gratitude, and his remarks were translated by Professor Mazhar Alam Siddiqui. The Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai thanked the guests for their presence and expressed hope that such cultural and literary interactions would continue in the future.

The meeting further strengthened the long-standing cultural and literary connections between Iran and India, particularly in the fields of Persian language, literature, and cultural exchange.
