Kashan University of Medical Sciences and Health Services

Kashan is one of the ancient cities of Iran, which has been inhabited for thousands of years. From an academic point of view, this city has a considerable position among the Iranian cities, and Kashan University of Medical Sciences and Health Services is considered one of the outstanding Iranian universities in this field.

The History of Kashan University of Medical Sciences and Health Services

Affiliated with the University of Kashan, a college of medical sciences was first established in the year 1986 and started its activities in the first semester with the presence of 20 faculty members and 250 students in the fields of medicine and nursing. After several years and with the expansion of its activities the status of this college was eventually upgraded to that of an independent university of medical sciences in 1993.

Presently, more than 3400 students pursue their higher education in six educational units of Kashan University of Medical Sciences under the supervision of 300 faculty members. Among the students, about 25% study at the post-graduate level, about 40% study at the Ph.D. level, and nearly 35% study at the associate and undergraduate levels. The faculties of this university are:

The self-governing campus of this university in “Aran and Bidgol” city is affiliated with this university in which students follow their studies in 53 fields including 12 specialized clinical assistant courses, 5 specialized research doctorate courses, seven residency courses, 15 postgraduate courses, 14 Ph.D., undergraduate, and associate degree courses. These courses are offered under the supervision of 44 educational groups.

By 2023, 13000 people had graduated from Kashan University of Medical Sciences of which about 1,800 people were MBBS doctors and about 300 people were specialist doctors.

Four hospitals, one fitness training center, 27 comprehensive health service centers, 10 rural health service centers, 40 health centers, and 54 urban health centers provide services to about 500 thousand people.

11 research institutes function under the supervision of Kashan University of Medical Sciences among which the Research Institute of Basic Sciences is considered the largest with three research centers "Anatomical Sciences", "Physiology" and "Biochemistry and Nutrition in Metabolic Diseases".

By 2023, more than 8,500 articles have been published by the researchers of this university. The university published one scientific research journal in Farsi and four journals in English about the latest research findings in the fields of medicine and health.

The research activities of the university are managed under the supervision of the Department of Research and Technology, which was founded in 1987. Quantitative and qualitative improvement of basic and applied research projects in the health system based on regional priorities, expansion of national and international interactions in the field of research, and development of the capacity of the information management system are among the goals of this deputy.

International Position and Activities of Kashan University of Medical Sciences

In 2023, Kashan University of Medical Sciences had admitted 102 foreign students. By publishing a call for admission - based on available facilities and capacity - this university invites those who are interested in pursuing their higher education in medical sciences. Applicants are selected to study at the university based on their grades and academic records.

According to the Times Ranking System published in 2023, Kashan University of Medical Sciences ranked 14th among Iranian universities. In this report, this university was ranked 601 to 800, and fifth among Iranian universities of medical sciences.
