Fajr International Theatre Festival is one of the most important theatre festivals in Iran, which is held every year on the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in February. The festival is often competitive and has a variety of sections, including a stage performance section, an international section, a radio performance section, a tele-theater section, and a street performance section.

The organizers of this festival; The Performing Arts Centre of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the Iranian Performing Arts Association, and the International Theatre Institute are located in Tehran.

The first Fajr National Theatre Festival, under the auspices of Taha Abdokhodaei, from 12 to 22 February 1982 in Tehran, in the main and four halls of Shahr Theatre, Theatre House, Faculty of Fine Arts, Sangalaj Theatre, Ferdowsi, Bahar Cultural Centre (Glass Museum), Niavaran Cultural CenterAzadi Cultural Complex, Altar Hall, Museum of Contemporary Art, Rumi Hall and Vahdat Hall were organized by the Centre for Performing Arts of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance.

Over the past years, the Fajr Theatre Festival can see the development of the performing arts in the country. This event in 1982, by taking its first steps, showed that the support, power and will of theatre artists in reflecting the content of the cultural values ​​of the revolution and its ideals, with the language of theatre can have the greatest impact on cultural flow.

Similarly, during the epic years of eight years of holy defence, theatre artists followed in the footsteps of warriors, on battlefields, and in the trenches of cultural activities and theatrical scenes, trying to present a part of warriors' epic with live and dynamic narration in the form of theatre works. .
