The 25th Jahan Khusro International Sufi Music Festival inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi was celebrated from February 28 to March 2, 2025 in New Delhi. The event was led by renowned Indian Film director and painter Mr. Muzaffar Ali. The festival was a major platform for Sufi music and poetry featuring artists from all over the world. Since its inception in 2000, the festival has showcased the works of Sufis such as Rumi, Amir Khusro and Baba Bulley Shah. Along with music and dance performances, the festival will feature a handicraft bazaar, poetry readings, workshops, book launches and a Sufi-inspired food experience.

The Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi was also present at the opening ceremony of the festival and noted in his speech that it is natural to feel joy in the presence of the rich legacy of Hazrat Amir Khusrau and that the essence of spring, which Khosrau was so fond of, is not just a season, but is also present in the air of Jahan Khusrau in Delhi today.

Mr. Modi emphasized the importance of events like Jahan Khusrau for the country’s art and culture, saying: These important events bring peace.

He emphasized that the event, which is now 25 years old, has gained a prominent place in the hearts of the people and considers it a great achievement.

The Prime Minister noted that the Jahan Khusrau event has a unique fragrance that reflects the soil of India. He recalled how Hazrat Amir Khusrau likened India to paradise and described the country as a garden of civilization where every aspect of culture flourished. The soil of India has a unique characteristic and when the Sufi tradition reached here, it found a connection with this land.

It is worth mentioning that a music group of Iran as well as Iran Culture House, New Delhi also participated in the festival to introduce Iranian arts and crafts, and exhibited works of handicrafts, calligraphy, etc, which was warmly welcomed by the visitors such as Governor of Delhi and many others.
