Beginning of Teaching Persian Language at the University of Abuja

 In order to develop and expand the Persian language and literature in the international arenas, especially in scientific and academic centers and institutions, as well as to make the scientific community more familiar with the scientific and literary capacity of Islamic Iran and to play an effective role in its expansion and development, with the efforts and efforts of the Cultural Consultation of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the representative of the Saadi Foundation of our country in Nigeria, the teaching of the Persian language unit at the University of Abuja was started. 

By the grace of God, after various meetings and meetings at the level of the president of universities, the vice president for international affairs, as well as a meeting with the dean of the faculty of foreign languages of this university, the teaching of the Persian language unit as the fifth foreign language being taught at the University of Abuja came to fruition and officially started its educational activity from 2025. Chinese, Korean, Arabic, and French languages are being taught in this university along with the Persian language. 

Mr. Majid Kamrani, Cultural Advisor and Honorable Representative of the Saadi Foundation, in the opening ceremony of this great scientific and academic event, which was held at the Faculty of Law of the University of Abuja, while appreciating and thanking the high-ranking officials of this university for accepting and teaching Persian as a second language in the educational system of this university, considered this step as a turning point in the comprehensive scientific and academic development of Islamic Iran with Nigeria, especially with the only one. The State University of Abuja said that while welcoming the students who chose the Persian language course in the new semester, they said that you have chosen this language correctly and this language will introduce you to another world in the East and introduce you to a land that is famous for poetry and poetry. A detailed study of the history of the world and the Orient will bring you and introduce you to the long and ancient history of the world, in which Islamic Iran has played a long role in the formation of this history.  In addition, each of you will be the generation of cultural ambassadors of Iran and Nigeria in the future.   

Prof. Awakwa Abago, Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Abuja, who attended the opening ceremony on behalf of the President of the University, said that the University of Abuja is fully prepared to expand its scientific and academic relations with Iranian universities, and today this event is considered as a goodwill of this university in this field.

It is worth mentioning that in the current semester, 118 students have chosen the Persian language unit as their second university language, which is held simultaneously semi-in-person and virtual.
