Persian language is a powerful tool for interaction with Asian countries _ Conversation with a Filipino Professor
Emphasizing the capabilities of Persian language and literature to expand Iran's relations with Asian countries, the professor of the University of the Philippines said: Persian language can play an important role in strengthening cultural and academic interactions in Asia.
According to the Public Relations and the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, "Sevilia" continued: Persian language, due to its ancient historical background, can be used as a tool to establish interaction with other countries, especially within the geography of the Persian language and cultural Iran.
The head of the Asian Studies Center of the University of the Philippines added: Persian language can be used as a pretext to identify the points of commonality between the countries of the region and try to strengthen them as much as possible.
Referring to the activities of Persian language and literature departments in various Asian countries, Seville said: the capabilities of the Persian language can be used to enhance cultural interactions between different countries.
This university professor emphasized that Persian language also has many enthusiasts in Southeast Asia and added that academic and university centers in Iran should strive to strengthen this interest, as it will contribute to the greater impact in cultural relations.
He said, "A noteworthy point is that not only there are many similarities between Persian literature and the literary works of Southeast Asian countries, but we also observe similarities between Persian words and the languages spoken in the Middle East and other Asian countries."
Regarding the strategies to strengthen and expand the Persian language in Southeast Asian countries, Seville added: One of the appropriate strategies to strengthen and develop cultural relations between the mentioned countries is to sign a memorandum of understanding between Iranian universities and academic centers that have Persian language teaching seats.
He said, "Coordination between the University of the Philippines and Iranian universities could also lead to positive outcomes and increase mutual understanding between the two nations. The Faculty of Humanities and Philosophy at the University of the Philippines began teaching Persian alongside other fields about twenty years ago."
The professor of the University of the Philippines continued: The Asian Studies Center is also supported by Iranologists who are fluent in Persian. Nevertheless, I believe that focusing on joint cooperation can attract the attention and interest of Filipino students to the ancient civilization of Iran and its literary works.
Seville said: In cooperation with Iranian cultural centers, a Persian language course has been set up in the Philippines, which has received a positive reception. I hope we will see an increase in these collaborations for the next academic semester.
