Iran was selected as the featured country for the festival, showcasing three films—Atralood, Hook, and Captain—in the world cinema section. Two additional films, In the Arms of a Tree and Sima's Unfinished Narration, competed in the competition section.
The 22nd Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF) kicked off on December 12, 2024, and ran until December 19, culminating in a spectacular awards ceremony. During its eight-day run, the festival showcased 123 films from 50 different countries, providing an exhilarating experience for movie enthusiasts.
It also featured screenings of notable Iranian films, including "In the Arms of Tree" by Babak Khajeh Pasha, "Atar Alood" by Hadi Moghadam Doost, and "Sima's Unfinished Narration" by Alireza Samadi, Hook and Captain,.

During the festival's closing ceremony, Mohammad Reza Fazel, the Director of the Iran Culture House in Mumbai, was present to receive the certificate and trophy of appreciation for the best film in the international section, which was awarded to the film In the arm of a Tree.
