The daughter of the Prophet of Islam Hazrat Fatima Zahra (as) was the epitome of faith, intelligence, strength and love. Fatima Zahra (pbuh) was called the “mother of her father” because of the way she took care of her father.  

The conference, held at Fatima Zahra College in Harare, brought together women from diverse backgrounds to discuss the theme “Hazrat Fatima (as) Women’s Rights.” The event provided a platform for women to reflect on the life and legacy of Lady Fatima Zahra, who embodied the values of compassion, resilience, and devotion to her faith. The Director of Fatima Zahra Women’s Organization Mrs. Hajar Makwinja delivered the opening remarks, providing a comprehensive overview of Lady Fatima Zahra’s approach to socio-economic interaction. She highlighted how Lady Fatima Zahra navigated the complexities of her time, upholding the righteous acts of Islam while remaining steadfast in the face of worldly challenges.

The conference also featured a speaker from the African Traditional Religion, Mbuya Shoko from ZINATA one of the bodies of authority in African Traditional Religious practices. She praised the moral character of Muslim women, who have been inspired by the exemplary life of Lady Fatima Zahra. Mrs. Shoko noted that the life of Lady Fatima Zahra has had a profound impact on Muslim women, who have internalized her values and principles. This, she argued, has enabled Muslim women to maintain their dignity and integrity, even in the face of adversity.

Maulana Anusa Mutuma delivered a thought-provoking presentation, exploring the parallels between Lady Fatima Zahra’s life and the social interactions of women in Islam. He highlighted the challenges that Lady Fatima Zahra faced, including poverty, hardship, and personal loss. Despite these difficulties, Lady Fatima Zahra remained committed to her faith, using her experiences to guide and support others.

The conference concluded with closing remarks from Sheikh Abdullah Makwinja, the Chairman of the Ahlul-Bayt Islamic Guidance Council in Zimbabwe. He expressed his gratitude to the organizers and participants, acknowledging the dedication and massive participation of Muslim women in Zimbabwe. Sheikh Makwinja noted that the celebration of Lady Fatima Zahra’s birth anniversary serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of women’s empowerment and the need to recognize the contributions of women in Islamic society.
