A student from the Faculty of World Studies at the University of Tehran has been awarded the title of Young Researcher of the Year 2025 by BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Hosna Salimi, a Ph.D. candidate in Indian Studies at the Faculty of World Studies at the University of Tehran and an intern at the Asian Mayors' Assembly, was nominated by this organization for the "BRICS and SCO Young Leaders Award" event and successfully earned the title of "Researcher of the Year."
According to Pars Today, in this round, out of over 400 participants from 13 countries worldwide, including Iran, India, China, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, South Africa, Brazil, Ethiopia, Tajikistan, and Russia, 10 individuals were selected as winners and received their awards during a ceremony held in Kazan, Russia.
The "BRICS and SCO Young Leaders Award" is annually granted in five categories: "Best Public Diplomacy Project of the Year," "Influential Media Personality of the Year," "Social Entrepreneur of the Year," "Environmental Initiatives of the Year," and "Researcher of the Year."
Setting BRICS priorities for 2025
In another news, according to Pars Today citing the international TV network, TV BRICS, the Brazilian government has released a document outlining a summary of priorities for its term as BRICS chair.
Two main priorities listed are cooperation in the Global South and participation for social development, which are divided into six key areas: global health cooperation, trade and finance, climate change issues, artificial intelligence governance, reforming multilateral peace and security structures, and institutional development. The document also highlights the need to protect personal data and ensure the integrity of information for ethical, safe, and responsible use of artificial intelligence technologies.
