Conference Title: Al-Quds is the axis of unity and awakening against oppression and occupation

 

On March 28, 2025, coinciding with the 27th of Ramadan 1446, the Cultural Consultation of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Nigeria, on the occasion of the International Quds Day, has made plans to familiarize people with the various events of the Holy Quds and the humanitarian and Islamic duties towards it. The main purpose of these programs is to promote public awareness about the history of Al-Quds and its importance in the Islamic world.

In this regard, the International Quds Day conference was held in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, with the participation of a large number of scholars, scientific and academic figures, religious centers and non-governmental organizations,  along with the participation of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Al-Huda Cultural and Educational Institute. This conference aims to create cohesion and solidarity between Muslims and people, and examines important issues related to Al-Quds and the necessity of supporting it, and the role of people in its implementation. He emphasized the appropriate programs on this important day.

Such events, especially in the current situation where the Islamic world is facing various challenges and threats, are of great importance in strengthening solidarity among Muslims and preserving the Palestinian causes.

In his remarks on the occasion of the International Quds Day, Mr. Mir Yousefi, the Acting Chargé d'Affaires of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Nigeria, referred to the anniversary of the historic initiative of Imam Khomeini (RA),  which named the  last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as the "International Quds Day". This initiative, which has now become a symbol of unity and solidarity of all human beings of all races and nationalities, is of special importance.

He went on to refer to the oppressed situation of the Palestinian people and the crimes of the Zionist regime, noting that the occupation, repression, murder and crimes against the Palestinian people by the Zionist regime continue. In particular, the crimes and genocides committed recently by the Zionists, which continue despite the existence of ceasefires in the Gaza Strip, Lebanon and Syria, are  an example of the regime's broken promises and criminal behavior.

These remarks clearly emphasize the need for global unity against the oppression and crimes of the Zionist regime and support for the Palestinian cause as a humanitarian and Islamic issue.

The special guest of the International Quds Day conference in Abuja, Dr. Fani Kayode, former Minister of Aviation of Nigeria, attended the event and explained the Christian community's view of the Palestinian issue. Referring to the recent incidents and crimes of the Zionist regime, he examined the history of this regime, which is full of countless crimes, and introduced its recent crimes as a blatant genocide in the modern world. In his speech, Dr. Kayodeh praised the role of Islamic Iran as the only country that supports the Palestinian people, regardless of religion, religion and ethnicity, and considered the International Quds Day as an example of Iran's efforts to support the Palestinian cause and strive to achieve this important goal.

Later, H.E. Dr. Isa Suleiman Atta, Lawyer and President of the Court of the Abuja Branch, and Sheikh Mohammed Zubair, President of the Al-Huda Training Center in Abuja, along with Mr. Sheikh Ali Abbas, one of the prominent religious figures of Nigeria, spoke at the conference and emphasized the need to defend the oppressed people of Palestine at the international level and in human rights forums. Mr. Kamrani, Cultural Advisor  of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Nigeria, said about the International Quds Day conference that this conference was held with the aim of solidarity with the Palestinian people and sympathy with the innocent people of Gaza. He emphasized that the purpose of this program is to enlighten and explain the ongoing crimes of the Zionist regime in the public opinion of the world. This conference will benefit from the intellectual power of scientific, cultural and educational institutions and centers and cooperation With professors, scholars, and great religious figures, it is trying to make the voice of the oppressed people of Palestine heard by the world.

This program was held in cooperation with the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Nigeria, Al-Huda Scientific and Cultural Institute in Abuja, and the Cultural Consultation of our country in Nigeria, at the same time as the International Quds Day in the city of Abuja. This conference was an important step in the direction of convergence and harmony with the Palestinian people and in support of their aspirations against the Zionist regime.
