CULTURAL CENTRE HOSTS SCHOOL LEANERS IN CULTURAL EXCHANGE PROGRAMME

HARARE, 31 January 2025 The Cultural Centre of the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Zimbabwe has today (31 January 2025) hosted 30 school students from one of Zimbabwe’s most remote districts, Gokwe, situated in the Midlands province of Zimbabwe.

The students, consisting of both male and females and drawn from three schools, and in the company of their three teachers, were on a cultural tour of the Cultural Centre of the embassy of Iran as part of a cultural exchange programme between the schools and the Cultural Centre.
 
The Cultural Counsellor, Mr Hamid Bakhtiyar, in his welcome remarks, narrated the treacherous road that the Islamic Republic of Iran has travelled from 1979 when Imam Ruholla Khomeini led the victorious and heroic people of Iran in overthrowing the Shah up today when Iran has become a global force to reckon with in all areas of development. That victory over the Shah led to the proclamation of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
 
He said the Islamic Republic of Iran had scored notable achievements in areas like education, technology, medicine and medical facilities, manufacturing, among a host of many achievements that have made the Islamic Republic self-sufficient in all its national needs.
 
The Cultural Counsellor noted that the Cultural Centre was working on a host of initiatives aimed at growing the cultural relations between Zimbabwe and the Islamic Republic of Iran, relations that he described as mutually excellent.
 
He said all the activities that the Cultural Centre is undertaking are all meant to enlighten both the Iranian and Zimbabwean people on the great cultural values existing in both countries.
 
Mr Bakhtyar also spoke of the vast educational opportunities existing in Iran for Zimbabwean students. He said Iran is currently offering scholarships to all academically gifted students who wish to pursue world class university education in Iran.
 
Dr Norbert Hosho, the Head of the visiting party, commented the excellent relations existing between Zimbabwe and Iran, relations that he said were bound by the many similarities between the two sister nations.
 
He said both Iran and Zimbabwe have stood together against the bulling America and its Western allies, countries that are bend on trying to impose their political, economic and cultural ideologies on both Zimbabwe, Iran and other third world countries.
 
The students had the opportunity to view some short documentaries on Iran’s cultural wealth as well as on Iran’s post Islamic Revolution achievements.
 
The students were also afforded an opportunity to ask exploratory questions on Iran, questions which were expertly answered by Mr Hamid Bakhtiyar.
